Notes to people appraising this site.
The idea of this site is to provide a multi purpose resource. It is far from a publishable state but I would appreciate comments before I get too set in my ways! As far as possible the information will be available on pdf files as well as web pages. The pdf files will try to be ‘stand alone’ with more addresses and telephone numbers than the corresponding web pages.

The site can be used by existing residents on the web.

It can be used by existing residents without computer access by looking at printed versions in the Village Hall and other suitable locations

It can be used by prospective residents on the web or at estate agents or on CD or printed versions.

The layout and pagination are a first stab and can be changed very easily. (I keep dragging things from one page to another!) The hierarchy of the pages really depends on who ends up ‘owning’ the site. Whatever is decided I hope WHVC and BFA will contribute their own text, information and pictures. We can include things like the WH Village News as pdf files.
I have used Serif Web Plus for this first draft, it has some nice features but it’s not very easy to tweak its files. For the present I have used its default page width but I will probably change that. I am also having difficulty deciding which of its many menu options to use.
The following changes are planned

A page with contributions from Associations without websites will be used for some other links. Clubs based in, or possibly close to, Weoley Hill will be able to send in text and pictures for 1 or 2 screenfuls of info.

A page with brief reports of local happenings.

There will be more links from places in the text to other relevant pages.

The picture at the top of each page will be replaced by an animated gif file showing a slideshow of views around the estate. I have quite a few but would appreciate more.

The green title blob at the top left of most pages can be replaced by something that reflects the ‘ownership’ of the site.

The icons on the entry page will gradually be replaced by photos as suitable ones become available.
